Decolonising Natural History
A roundtable discussion featuring practitioners working across natural history and decolonial practices

Decolonising Natural History

Part of a series: Where Plants and People Meet
The South London Botanical Institute in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London

About the Discussion

This is the opening event of ‘Where Plants and People Meet’, a collaboration between the South London Botanical Institute and Giulia Carabelli from Queen Mary University of London. The programme will explore the roles of plants in world making.

This roundtable discussion features practitioners working across natural history and decolonial practices to help us frame our exploration of how the relationship between plants and humans has been colonised as well as the role institutions like the South London Botanical Institute might play in redefining this relationship in the future.

The roundtable will include contributions from: Miranda Lowe (Natural History Museum), Ros Gray (Goldsmiths), JC Niala (History of Science Museum) and Sui Searle (@decolonisethegarden), and facilitated by Giulia Carabelli (Queen Mary University of London) and Elyssa Livergant (South London Botanical Institute).

Refreshments will be provided
