Wild Plants – their uses and folklore

Roy Vickery will lead this walk taking a look at the wide range of wild plants growing in in the churchyard of All Saints Church in Upper Norwood with particular emphasis on their uses and their folklore. It may be of interest to note that Robert Fitzroy, the captain of HMS Beagle who invited Charles Darwin on this historic voyage has a memorial there too.

Roy is a renowned botanist specialising in plant-lore and also president of the SLBI, as well as the author of Vickery’s Folk Flora.

NB Participants are limited to the numbers currently permitted by the government regarding social distancing, presently 6 people at 1+ metres, should that change we will update the ticket availability.

Roy will not be wearing a mask for audio reasons i.e. so that he can be heard, but will be happy to should any participant prefer him to.

Tickets £10 . Meet at the entrance to the church. Nearest station: Crystal Palace
