Botany on Your Plate - our project funded by City Bridge Trust
School Visits & Families
Whilst our school visits are currently on hold due to COVID-19, please see our online resources on this page to use at home! We will also be running ‘Make Summer Memorable’ workshops in August.
Usually…we offer plant and outdoor education with a difference in a unique setting right on your school’s doorstep.
We have a range of inspirational school programmes to match the requirements of the curriculum for all key stages, or we can create tailor made sessions.
School Visits & Families
Please note that our school bookings are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 crisis. We are in touch with schools who currently have bookings.
In the meantime we are developing online activity sheets & videos for parents & teachers to use with their children, on the topics of our curriculum-related programmes – please see these below (scroll down to ‘Our Programmes’).
NEW! We will be developing a children’s trail and running 6 ‘Making Summer Memorable’ workshops in August, thanks to a grant from Lambeth Made. See Events for more details.
As part of Eco Attractions Group we invite you to make a Pollinator Palace as part of Project Pollinate this summer…prizes to be won including tea at the SLBI!
These resources are free of charge, but we are obviously losing income at the moment while the SLBI is closed, so please use the Donate button on this page to support us if you can – thank you.

Information for when school visits start again
We offer plant and outdoor education with a difference in a unique setting right on your school’s doorstep.
We have a range of inspirational programmes to match the requirements of the new curriculum for key stages 1 and 2 – please see ‘Our Programmes’ – or we can create tailor made sessions for your class.
All our sessions are interactive and hands-on, encouraging and enthusing children to explore plants by working scientifically, in addition to a variety of creative and playful activities. We run 2 hour sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and take school groups of up to 30 children at a time. Fee: £120 per group inclusive of booking and admin fees.
Lunches: Due to the setting and available space, we recommend a packed lunch be taken in nearby Brockwell Park, either on the way to or from the Institute. However in some cases due to weather, timings etc. we can accommodate up to 30 children with their packed lunches in the lecture room at a pre-booked rate of £1 per child (refundable if not necessary on the day).
Cancellations: Any bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to the visit date will be charged at the full price.
Please note, you are not guaranteed a booking until we have received the completed booking form.
We are grateful to City Bridge Trust and Postcode Local Trust for their support of our work with schools.
