This talk will be an introduction to the history and importance of the naming of plants, algae and fungi. Helen gave us another great talk last March on 'Women in Botany', and in this talk Helen will cover the history of modern plant naming from just before Linnaeus in 1753 to the formation of the official Rules of Nomenclature in 1906, how they have changed over time and continue to evolve.
