Our botanic garden is open to the public every Thursday

The botanic garden, hidden behind the Institute, is approached though a small conservatory which shelters tender plants in winter, and houses a collection of carnivorous plants. The garden features a variety of themed beds and a pond very popular with school children and adults alike!
On the day:
- Relax and wander around the garden
- Meet our gardeners
- Gain some gardening tips
- Indoor & outdoor plants available to purchase
- Visit our greenhouse and pond
- We also sell local honey, tea-towels, books, greetings card and more!
The SLBI is a registered charity for botanical education. It supports people of all ages and backgrounds in learning about plants. By making a donation with your booking you will help to sustain our work with school children, families and the wider community. As a small charity, any amount you can give, large or small, will be warmly appreciated and make an enormous difference. Thank you.
